Hicks-Hudson Sworn Into Office as State Senator
Today, state Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) took the oath of office to serve in the Ohio Senate as Assistant Minority Whip during the 135th General Assembly.
“I am extremely excited to serve on the leadership team for the Ohio Senate Democratic Caucus,” said Senator Hicks-Hudson. “I will continue to fight for working men and women of Ohio, particularly for my constituents in Lucas County.”
Hicks-Hudson is honored to be serving in her first term in the Ohio Senate after previously serving two terms in the Ohio House of Representatives for the 44th District.
During Senator Hicks-Hudson’s 35-year professional career, she has served as the first black female mayor of Toledo and worked as assistant Lucas County prosecutor, assistant public defender and assistant state attorney general. From negotiating labor contracts for Ohio Shared Services Center and teaching domestic relations law, to conducting voter education activities for Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Sen. Hicks-Hudson has advocated for a diverse range of issues in a holistic and sensible way.
