Kunze Bill Creating the ALS Awareness License Plate Signed By Governor
Bill Also Creates the Ohio Bullfrog License Plate

COLUMBUS—Governor DeWine today signed Senate Bill 163, legislation sponsored by State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) creating an Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) license plate.
"I'd like to thank Governor DeWine for signing this bill today. My hope is that this license plate will bring more awareness to a disease which affects an estimated 16,000 Americans," said Kunze.
Funds generated by this license plate will be paid to the ALS Association of Ohio to help discover treatments, advocate and serve those who have been diagnosed with ALS. Senate Bill 158 was amended into the bill signed today, also sponsored by Kunze, creating the Ohio Bullfrog License Plate. In 2010, Ohio lawmakers enacted legislation recognizing the bullfrog as Ohio’s state frog. The effort resulted from the vision and research of a teacher and students from Grizzell Middle School, of the Dublin City School district. The new license plate celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the bullfrog being designated at the state frog. "This is an exciting day for the students and teachers at Grizzell Middle School," said Kunze. "This license plate sets an example for others that through hard work and determination you can affect change in big and small ways at any age." Funds generated by this license plate will be distributed to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, which will use the contributions for the protection and preservation of wetlands in Ohio and for educational programs pertaining to the bullfrog and similar wetland animals.
