Kunze Highlights Key Provisions in Senate Budget

COLUMBUS— The Ohio Senate today introduced a new biennium budget plan as the state forges ahead into the post pandemic economy. State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) championed several key provisions in the Senate's proposal, including:

• Investments in the health of women and children, including the expansion of Medicaid coverage for new mothers from 60 days to one year. The budget plan also increases access and funding for child care services.
• Appropriations for South-Western Career Academy in Franklin County in the amount of $125,000 each fiscal year to boost local workforce development efforts and $5 million each fiscal year for need-based financial aid to qualifying students enrolled in the short-term certificate programs at community and technical colleges in Ohio.
• Support for our veterans by maintaining a critical therapy program for those suffering from PTSD. Provides additional $740,000 for 13 veterans groups across Ohio and appropriates $400K to provide temporary housing for female veterans who are homeless.
