Kunze Honors State High School Swim Champ Emily Brown
COLUMBUS—State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Dublin) honored state swimming champion Emily Brown in the Ohio Senate today. A junior at Dublin Coffman High School, Emily won the 2023 Division 1 OHSAA State Swimming Championship in the 200 and the 500 yard freestyle events. She has won the state championship in both of these events for the last three years.
"I am looking forward to seeing what else Emily will accomplish in the future," said Kunze. "I have no doubt she will continue to excel in both athletics and scholastics."
Emily's winning time in the 200 freestyle of 45.88 seconds broke the state record. She is a three-time Scholastic All American, with a GPA of 3.9. Emily is also an All-American qualifier in multiple swimming events and a recipient of the Amphitrite Award, presented to the top female high school swimmer in Ohio based on the Power Points 100.
Most recently, Emily was invited to attend the National Junior Select Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. She has also competed in many high level competitions including Junior Nationals (both in Irvine, California and Greensboro, North Carolina) where she placed second in the 200 meter individual medley.
