Kunze Honors the Life of Collin Wiant and Ongoing Efforts to End Dangerous Hazing on College Campuses
COLUMBUS—State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) today issued the following statement in response to a documentary, released today, sharing the story of Collin Wiant and Ohio's efforts to end dangerous hazing on college campuses:

"Collin Wiant, of Franklin County, lost his life 4 years ago to hazing on November 12, 2018 at Ohio University. Because of the passion and courage of Collin’s family, we established a law in Ohio to end dangerous hazing on college campuses. I am honored to have had the opportunity to sponsor Collin’s Law, which is now model legislation for other states to implement and save lives from the horrific consequences of hazing.

Today a documentary was released, sharing Collin’s story. I was humbled to participate and trust that the work being done in Ohio will have lasting impact on college campuses throughout the United States. I hope you’ll take a few moments to watch 45 Mill Street, the story of Collin Wiant’s life and death as told by his family and friends and I encourage you to share the link with your friends and family. Watch here.

Thank you to Collin’s parents, Wade Wiant & Kathleen Wiant, and Daniel E Catullo III for your work to share this tragic story, I am hopeful there will be beauty from ashes in the courage it takes to share about Collin’s life.

Lastly, thank you to my Senate and House colleagues and Governor DeWine for working together to pass and sign Collin’s Law. My hope and prayer is that no other family gets that knock on their door or phone call because of Collin’s Law and the advocacy and help of the Wiant family."
