COLUMBUS—State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) today recognized the Thomas Worthington High School men's water polo team and women's field hockey team for winning their respective state championships this year.
"I proudly commend this group of young men for their accomplishments," said Kunze. "Not only are they dedicated to their sport, but they exemplify true sportsmanship and are active contributors to their communities. They are well-deserving of the state champion title."
The Thomas Worthington High School men's water polo team earned the state title after coming back twice from a five-goal deficit and defeating the opponent in overtime. They finished the season 32-9.

"It is my privilege to recognize the Thomas Worthington High School women's field hockey team, who has consistently displayed their determination and passion on the field," said Kunze. "These young women embody integrity and camaraderie, and serve as excellent role models for both athletes and young people in their communities."
The Thomas Worthington High School women's field hockey team concluded their season with 21 victories and no losses, defeating their opponent 1-0 in the championship game. This victory led them to their third consecutive state champion title.
