COLUMBUS—Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) and State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) today joined a virtual town hall discussion with JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef regarding JobsOhio’s new industry focus on expanding Ohio’s military and federal assets sector, specifically as it relates to central Ohio. They were also joined by U.S. Senators Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty and Congressman Steve Stivers. This particular industry employs over 90,000 Ohioans at over 30 installations across the state, making Ohio a critical player in the United States’ defense operations. Ohio is home to the Defense Supply Center in Columbus, the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, the nation’s second largest Air Guard in Toledo, Mansfield’s Lahm Air National Guard, the Youngstown Air Reserve, and Lima’s heavy armor plant, among many others. The Ohio Senate has made supporting military service members, veterans and their families a priority, and the legislature has passed several bills during the 133rd General Assembly as part of their efforts to protect installations, attract new growth and innovations, and support military personnel. “Ohio is known for our commitment to the nation’s military and to those who serve,” said Obhof. “We have worked hard to protect our current military installations, attract new opportunities, and provide a welcoming home for our military families and veterans. I appreciate the support and expertise JobsOhio provides to our state and communities in this effort.” “Ohio’s military installations attract world-class talent and drive economic growth in our communities, and I thank JobsOhio for helping Ohio retain and grow these opportunities,” added Kunze.
