COLUMBUS—State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) issued the below statement following her vote today on Am. Sub. Senate Bill 120:
"As your state Senator, I was sent to the Statehouse to do a job – to represent the families, the students, the teachers and schools in my district. I’m also a mother, and I know what it’s like to plan for your children’s education.
Earlier this week, I voted in support of a bipartisan Senate plan that reaffirmed our commitment to our public schools and to our families’ right to choose a school that best fits the needs of their children. What my colleagues and I voted for in Substitute House Bill 9 protects the choices of Ohio’s families, while solving the concern that hundreds of traditional public schools might be unfairly categorized as underperforming.
With regards to my vote today on Am. Sub. Senate Bill 120, I voted in favor because I was sent here by my constituents to solve problems, not create them, and while I vote in support of an extension today, I will not accept that this matter cannot be solved. I will continue to fight to provide clarity and direction for our schools and families."
