PHOTO: Kunze Honors Recipient of the 2019 Ohio Theater Teacher of the Year

COLUMBUS—On Wednesday, State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hilliard) recognized Joy Grubbs for being named the 2019 Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Educational Theater Association. Joy is a 6th grade teacher from Hilliard City Schools in Franklin County. She was joined by Hilliard Station principal Lauren Schmidt, band director Diana Nicklas, her husband Tom and two children on the Senate floor during the resolution presentation. “Joy took on the additional role of theater teacher at a time when she was most needed by her students,” said Kunze. “She spent countless hours planning, rehearsing and directing the 6th graders theater production, with her family by her side. Franklin County has some of the best school districts in Ohio and I am proud to have such hard working, selfless individuals sharing the Arts with our youngest citizens.” Watch the full presentation here.
