Huffman Celebrates Local Schools Recognized by Governor
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) is proud to celebrate the schools in the 5th Senate District that were recognized by Governor Mike DeWine through the Governor's Science of Reading Recognition Program.
"Making sure every child is able to read is the goal of every educator," said Senator Huffman. "I could not be more proud of these schools that are addressing the specific needs of their students so that they can have the skills they need to succeed."
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, in coordination with the Department of Education and Workforce, developed the Governor’s Science of Reading Recognition Program to recognize schools that are demonstrating strong implementation of evidence-based instructional practices aligned to the science of reading and where students are making significant progress.
Schools in the 5th Ohio Senate District that received the recognition are the following:
- Charles Huber Elementary School, Huber Heights City Schools (Huber Heights, OH)
- Milton-Union Elementary School, Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools (West Milton, OH)
- Monticello Elementary School, Huber Heights City Schools (Huber Heights, OH)
- Northridge Elementary School, Northridge Local Schools (Dayton, OH)
- Valley Forge Elementary School, Huber Heights City Schools (Huber Heights, OH)
"These schools exemplify the quality education that is provided throughout the 5th district," said Huffman. "I look forward to seeing even more schools recognized by the Governor in the years to come."
