Huffman Praises Ruling to Block Medicaid Payments for Abortion Providers
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) is pleased that the First Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the federal government can prohibit Medicaid dollars from going to abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.
"American tax dollars should not be used in any way to prop up organizations that are in the business of killing babies," said Senator Huffman. "Ensuring that the most innocent and vulnerable among us receive basic protections is the foundation of good government. As a proudly pro-life doctor and legislator, I'm grateful to see this ruling go into effect and look forward to pursuing similar efforts here in Ohio."
A provision included within the recently passed "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" requires abortion providers to no longer receive Medicaid payments for any service. Medicaid is a federal program that provides health coverage to low-income people and is one of the largest payers for health care in the United States.
