Huffman Praises State Funding for Dayton Renovation Project

COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) today announced a historical renovation project in Dayton, Ohio has received funding through the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit program. Renovations will be made to the 22-story Grant-Deneau Tower located at 40 W. Fourth Street in downtown Dayton. Vacant since 2016, the building will be rehabilitated to host 11 floors of commercial offices with the remainder filled with 100 apartments. "It is exciting to see the benefit this program is having in the Dayton area," said Huffman. "I have long supported the Historic Preservation Tax Credit, and I am glad to see it is at work locally. I look forward to seeing the newly renovated Grant-Deneau Tower." In total, the Ohio Development Services Agency awarded $31,204,165 through the program to rehabilitate 40 historic buildings in nine communities across the state. Developers do not receive the tax credit until project construction is complete and all program requirements are verified. The Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit program is administered in partnership with the Ohio History Connection's State Historic Preservation Office. The State Historic Preservation Office determines if a property qualifies as a historic building and that the rehabilitation plans comply with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
