Columbus –State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) today announced the Senate's unanimous passage of House Bill 287, providing medicaid waiver reciprocity for Ohio's military families. House Bill 287 provides that an individual with special needs is eligible to receive Ohio Medicaid home and community-based services if the individual is a child or spouse of an active duty military member, and they were receiving home and community-based services in another state at the time of the military member's transfer to Ohio. "This legislation will allow our military families to immediately qualify for Medicaid benefits that they were already receiving in other states prior to their transfer to Ohio," said Huffman. "With so many moving parts of a military transfer, and especially right now, our service members should not have to worry about maintaining healthcare for their family." House Bill 287 will now be sent to the Governor for a signature.
