COLUMBUS - Governor DeWine has signed Senate Bill 257, sponsored by State Senators Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) and Brian Chavez (R-Marietta). This legislation expands the Ohio Homebuyer Plus program to include active-duty military members who reside in another state but are stationed in Ohio. This program creates a special tax-incentivized savings account for the purchase of a home.

"Our nation's heroes give all for us here at home, so it only makes sense we help them find theirs," Johnson said. "This legislation will allow our military members to be part of our communities here in Ohio. I am grateful the Governor has signed this bill into law. Together, we welcome our newest Buckeyes with open arms."

"I am grateful to see this bill signed into law," said Chavez. "Our service men and women who dedicate their lives to our country deserve to have options when looking to put down roots in the Buckeye State. Every American strives to achieve the American dream and owning a home is a big part of the dream. With this legislation becoming law, I hope more people can reach that."
