COLUMBUS—State Senator Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) announced today the passage of Senate Bill 160 out of the Senate Veterans and Public Safety Committee. S.B. 160, also known as the Veteran Information Act, would require health care workers and caseworkers to inform veterans about the available health care benefits through either the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), or other veteran service organizations.
“I spent my military career as a medical officer doing everything I could to take care of our soldiers, both at home and abroad,” said Johnson who is vice chair of the committee. “Today, I am seeing too many veterans who are unaware, or simply have never been properly informed, about the medical benefits that are available to them, and this bill is a step in the right direction.”
