COLUMBUS—State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) and State Rep. D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) have released the following joint statement regarding the rise in COVID-19 cases and impact on the healthcare workers:

“We all continue to face challenging times due to the widespread COVID-19 virus. While Ohioans have responsibly taken action to combat COVID-19 throughout this past year, we have seen a rise in cases within the last several weeks across our state. More individuals are utilizing our hospital systems. As a result, healthcare workers are presently being pushed to their limits. We want to support our healthcare workers by doing our part to slow the spread of the virus so that our healthcare workers can do their jobs effectively and safely and everyone can get the medical attention that they need - whether that is for COVID-19 or any other type of ailment.

We want to urge individuals in Erie and Ottawa Counties to be sure to use good hygiene practices, utilize social distancing, and follow the CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19. Washing your hands should be a priority. Following these steps and simple CDC guidelines can put Ohio back on the right track when it comes to COVID-19 and provide great relief to our healthcare workers.

Sadly, too many lives have been hurt by this virus, in one way or another. Let’s be healthy and strong as we continue to move forward together. We will get past this with a better future, and we thank you all for your strength and patience.” Visit coronavirus.ohio.gov for additional information and resources.
