Gavarone Honors Recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Biology Teacher Award
COLUMBUS—On Wednesday, State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) recognized Ashlie Gowitzka for being named the 2019 Outstanding Biology Teacher for Ohio by the National Association of Biology Teachers. Ashlie is a high school teacher from Perkins Local School District in Erie County, where she has taught for 11 years. She was joined by district superintendent Todd Boggs and Perkins High School principal Jeff Harbal on the Senate floor during the resolution presentation. “Erie, Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood Counties have some of the best school districts and students in Ohio,” Gavarone said. “That success is directly attributable to the outstanding teachers, like Ashlie, that you will find in school buildings across our region.” Watch the full presentation here.
