COLUMBUS—State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) honored St. Aloysius Catholic Church during Senate session. The church is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

"As a proud parishioner of St. Aloysius who got married and raised three children there, it's a privilege to recognize the church for its remarkable history in Bowling Green," Gavarone said. "St. Aloysius has long stood as a pillar in our community with a strong mission rooted in faith to serve the common good."

Catholic worshippers in Bowling Green, including several local farmers who dedicated hundreds of hours of time and work, constructed and named their first church in 1881. The cornerstone for St. Aloysius' current structure was laid in 1924 and dedicated two years later.

"Today the church stands as one of the most beautiful historic structures in Bowling Green, especially after its most recent renovation," said the Senator.

St. Aloysius is one of two Catholic churches in the city of Bowling Green and primarily serves the city and surrounding rural communities.
