COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) this week appointed Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) to several key Senate committees for the 133rd General Assembly.
Gavarone will serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education, as well as a member of the Health, Human Services and Medicaid Committee and Education Committee. “I am honored that President Obhof has selected me to serve on these important committees that will consider a wide array of significant topics," said Gavarone. “Healthcare and education issues are some of the biggest priorities for the families of Ohio, so to be able to play a role in crafting good policy in those areas is important to me.” In addition, Senator Gavarone will serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee and Government Oversight and Reform Committee.
“As an attorney, I look forward to putting my legal education and 20+ years of practice to use on the Judiciary Committee and the responsibility I have on the Government Oversight Committee to ensure our government is working efficiently and not overreaching," Gavarone added.
Senator Gavarone attended the first meetings of the year for the Health, Human Services and Medicaid and Judiciary Committees this week and she expects meeting times for her other committees to be set soon. For a complete list of committee appointments, click here.
