COLUMBUS—State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) is reminding residents of the 2nd Senate District of the upcoming back-to-school sales tax holiday, August 6-8.
“Students learn best when they are in the classroom and have the supplies and resources they need,” said Gavarone. “This weekend, teachers and parents alike have the opportunity to enjoy a financial reprieve on essential supplies, and I am proud to have voted in recent years to make this a permanent, annual tax holiday prior to the beginning of the school year.”
In the 132nd General Assembly, Gavarone co-sponsored Senate Bill 226, which created a permanent three-day sales tax "holiday" each August, during which sales of clothing and school supplies are exempt from sales and use tax.
