COLUMBUS – State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) today was sworn in as a member of the Ohio Senate after Senate Republicans unanimously voted to approve the screening committee’s recommendation. She fills the vacancy in Ohio’s 2nd Senate District, which includes Erie, Ottawa and Wood counties and parts of Fulton and Lucas counties.

“I appreciate the confidence the Senate has placed in me and the opportunity to continue serving the people of northern Ohio,” said Gavarone. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues on issues important to my constituents."

Gavarone joins the Senate from the Ohio House of Representatives where she was serving her second term. Prior to her time in the legislature, she served on the Bowling Green City Council.

In addition to her public service, Gavarone is an attorney and co-owner of a family business with her husband Jim. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University and a law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.

She and her husband reside in Bowling Green with their family.
