COLUMBUS—The Honorable Mary Katherine Huffman of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas this week administered the oath of office to State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) marking the beginning of her first four-year term in the Ohio Senate. Monday's opening ceremonies also served as the official start of the 134th Ohio General Assembly.

Gavarone will continue to serve as State Senator for the 2nd Senate District, which encompasses all or parts of Erie, Fulton, Lucas, Ottawa and Wood counties.

"I am honored and excited to continue serving my constituents in Ohio's 2nd Senate District," said Gavarone. "I look forward to continuing the work to promote economic growth, workforce development, and improve the quality of our greatest natural asset, Lake Erie."

In addition to her public service, Gavarone is an attorney and co-owner of a family business with her husband Jim. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University and a law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.

She and her husband reside in Bowling Green with their family. The opening ceremony can be viewed on OhioChannel.org. The 134th Ohio General Assembly will run through December 31, 2022.
