Gavarone Votes to Override Governor's Veto on House Bill 68
COLUMBUS—State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) today released this statement following the Ohio Senate's veto override on House Bill 68:
"Today the Ohio Senate stood with Ohio's female athletes and children by overriding the Governor's veto," said Gavarone. "This legislation is critical to protect our children from medical procedures with life-long consequences and to ensure our daughters can compete on an equal playing field. I'm proud to preserve women's and girls' sports and keep our next generation safe."
House Bill 68 protects women’s sports in Ohio. By maintaining the integrity of Title IX, the bill ensures that our daughters’ courts, playing fields, and locker rooms are safe, competitive, and for women and girls only. The bill also prevents gender reassignment surgeries and the use of cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers on children, protecting youth from procedures and drugs that have life-long consequences, while also ensuring access to mental health care.
