Patton Brings Investment To Cuyahoga County
COLUMBUS — Senator Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) and The Ohio Senate announced the investment of $3.7 billion to support local projects across Ohio. These dollars were included in Senate Bill 450, the Capital Budget bill, which was passed by the Senate yesterday.
“This Capital Budget invests directly into our state, growing Ohio with much-needed upgrades to our state agencies, schools, and universities," said Senator Patton. "I can confidently say that projects funded in this bill will continue to make Cuyahoga County and the State of Ohio an attractive place to live and work."
The legislature generally passes a Capital Budget every two years, funding improvements to public services and facilities across the state, including schools, infrastructure, and mental health and addiction facilities. Senate Bill 450 includes:
- $645 Million for the Public Works Commission
- $611 Million for the School Facilities Commission
- $425 Million for Higher Education Institutions
- $385 Million for the Department of Behavioral Health
- $265 Million for the Department of Natural Resources
The following projects in the 24th Senate district were allocated funding in the capital budget:
- Berea- Baldwin Wallace University Campus and Community Access Initiative, $750,000
- Berea Recreation Center Expansion, $750,000
- North Royalton Memorial Park Pavilion, $700,000
- Strongsville Community Dog Park, $150,000
- Brooklyn- John M Coyne Recreation Center, $100,000
- Middleburg Heights Old District 10 Schoolhouse Renovation, $100,000
- North Olmsted Veteran's Memorial, $100,000
- Olmsted Township Greenway Trail, $100,000
- Brook Park- Beautifying James E. Cavanaugh Park, $100,000
- North Olmsted Old Town Hall Renovation, $75,000
- Parma- James Day Park Improvements, $50,000
- Parma- Roehm Field Reclamation Project, $12,500
The following Cuyahoga County projects also received funding:
- Cleveland Museum of Art Campus Renovation, $2,000,000
- Rock & Roll Hall of Rame Renovations, $2,000,000
- Cleveland Orchestra Severance Hall, $1,500,000
- Playhouse Square Theater Preservation, $1,000,000
- Cleveland Metroparks Public Saling Center, $750,000
- Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Primate Forest, $750,000
- Bellefaire JCB, $650,000
- Irishtown Bend Park Heritage Site, $500,000
- Nearwest Theatre Project, $500,000
- Cornerstone of Hope Emancipation Project, $450,000
- Great Lakes Science Center, $300,000
- Cleveland Museum of Natural History, $250,000

- Cleveland's Historic Shaker Square Improvements, $250,000

The Capital Budget now heads to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
