COLUMBUS—State Senator Tom Patton (R-Strongsville) was sworn into the Ohio Senate for the 136th General Assembly.

"It was an honor to have my daughters and ten beautiful grandchildren with me once more as I took the oath of office to serve the people of the 24th Senate District,” said Patton. “I look forward to continuing to cut taxes for Ohioans, create and retain jobs throughout the state, and collaborate with my colleagues to make Ohio the best state in the country.”

Patton has served in the Ohio General Assembly for nearly two decades. He was first elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2003. Patton championed a film tax credit to ensure Northeast Ohio can be competitive with other states in attracting the $60 billion film industry. In 2016, Patton sponsored legislation that created presumptive eligibility for workers' compensation for firefighters diagnosed with cancer.

He raised his family of five daughters and one son in Strongsville and has been blessed with ten grandchildren.
