Columbus – Today, state Senator Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) released the following statement this evening in response to Governor John Kasich’s final State of the State address at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio:
“In the last eight years, Ohio’s education system has fallen from fifth to 22nd in the nation. We have made little investment in statewide early childhood education and have gutted the funding to our secondary schools. If Ohio dedicates real investment to its education system, we could close the achievement gap and give all our children a fair shot.”
