Today, state Senator Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) supported the Ohio Controlling Board's decision to release over $154 million in capital funding for school buildings in six school districts, including the state’s share of over $32 million for Cuyahoga Falls City School District.

“Cuyahoga Falls is a beacon of Summit County and its school district needs this funding to make improvements to its schools and classrooms,” said Sykes who is a sitting member on the Controlling Board. “This community has rallied to provide the local match for the district’s project and I’m proud to support the release of state funds to begin the project.”

The Controlling Board approved the following six school district projects, as requested by The Facilities Construction Commission:
  1. Cuyahoga Falls City School District - Segment 1 (Summit County) with a state share of $32,793,662
  2. Manchester Local School District - Segment 1 (Summit County) with a state share of $11,653,132
  3. Rolling Hills Local School District (Guernsey County) with a state share of $21,486,605
  4. Triway Local School District (Wayne County) with a state share of $20,741,566
