Sykes Commends the Passage of Senate Bill 141

Today, state Senator Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) commends the Ohio Senate for its unanimous passage of Senate Bill 141, which designates a section of I-77 in Akron between I-76 and Lovers Lane as the “American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. Memorial Highway.”

"The highway dedication in Senate Bill 141 would be a small tribute to pay on the large debt of gratitude that we owe to these mothers, their children, and their families," Sykes said. “I’d like to thank Ms. Louise Johnson, Ms. Theresa Christian, Rev. Ron Blackmon, and the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., for proposing this recognition.”

Senate Bill 141 now heads to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
