Sykes Honored For Work On Early Childhood Education

Today, state Senator Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) received the 2019 “A Step Above” Award from Groundwork Ohio at their 2019 Early Childhood Awareness and Education Summit for his commitment to expanding early childhood education and making higher education more affordable.
“I want to thank Groundwork Ohio for honoring me today,” Senator Sykes said. “It is our duty, as a community, to ensure that every child in Ohio has the opportunity and resources to be successful, no matter their background. I will continue to fight each and every day to ensure that the principles and values that govern Ohio reflect just that. I want to thank Groundwork Ohio for acknowledging not only my work, but the contributions of others in our fight for Ohio’s future.”
Senator Sykes was recognized alongside fellow state Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Hillard) and state Representative Stephanie Howse (D-Cleveland).
