Sykes Receives Small Business Advocate Award
On Wednesday, state Senator Vernon Sykes (D-Akron) received the 2018 Small Business Advocate of the Year Award from the Greater Cleveland Partnership and its Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) for his role in congressional redistricting reform.

“It is an honor to receive this award,” said Sykes. “I’m thankful for the time and energy that COSE and the Greater Cleveland Partnership spent pushing for these reforms and I believe the buy-in from these influential groups helped us be successful. Fair representation in the legislature is the bedrock of democracy, and the changes we enacted will make the redistricting process more transparent and inclusive and less likely to be exploited.”

The process of redistricting will begin after the completion of the 2020 Census.
