Today, state Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) condemned the introduction of Senate Concurrent Resolution 11, which seeks to directly assault the LGBTQ+ community.

"Once again, Andy Brenner and his cohort are shamelessly targeting LGBTQ+ individuals with a resolution that's as hollow as it is hateful," said DeMora. "This resolution serves no purpose other than to send a chilling message to every queer person in Ohio: the GOP leadership in our legislature is determined to undermine and oppress you."

S.C.R 11, if passed, would urge Congress to exclude sexual orientation and gender identity from Title IX to “protect women’s sports.” However, aside from gender-affirming care being universally agreed upon as beneficial by the medical community, gender identity has also been upheld as a protected class in several legal cases, such as in Kadel V. Folwell, which states that not providing gender-affirming health care violates the Equal Protection Clause of the Affordable Care Act.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 11 is currently awaiting a committee assignment.
