DeMora Condemns Ohio Ballot Board's Blatantly Rigged Process
Today, state Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) condemned the Ohio Ballot Board’s blatantly rigged and partisan process helping Republicans keep their illegal and artificially high majorities in Congress and both houses of the state legislature.
“After watching the debacle that is the Ohio Ballot Board and seeing how the Republicans on that board completely disregard the will of the voters and all basic common sense, all I can say is that I am disgusted,” said DeMora. “Every step of this process – from Frank ‘loser’ LaRose’s summary language that wouldn’t be fit to burn, to the Supreme Court’s asinine decision to uphold the lies – has been a failure and an embarrassment from beginning to end.”
The ballot summary language, written by Republican Frank LaRose’s office, completely changed the original amendment language that was supported and signed by over 700,000 citizens who want to get politicians out of the redistricting process. LaRose’s language completely misrepresents the amendment and even goes as far as saying that Issue 1 would require gerrymandering.
“The Republicans on the Ohio Supreme Court – perhaps best known for saying that boneless can mean containing bones – upheld LaRose’s ludicrous language earlier this week,” said DeMora. “I urge all Ohioans to ignore the egregious language passed by the Ballot Board when they vote on or before November 5. I will be voting YES on Issue 1 to restore redistricting power to citizens, not politicians.”
