Today, state Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) condemned recent racist text messages sent to Black individuals and students across the country.
“I am disgusted and outraged to hear that Black students in my district have been receiving vile and hateful anonymous texts,” said DeMora. “Unsurprisingly, white supremacy is rearing its ugly head. I hope these messages are investigated promptly and action is taken quickly.”
According to a report from the Columbus Dispatch, Black Americans in Ohio and across the country have received racist text messages telling them they’re selected to be enslaved. Several Central Ohio colleges and school districts have confirmed their students were among the recipients of these messages.
