DeMora Condemns Vandalization of Brutus Statue
Today, state Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) condemned the destruction of the Brutus statue outside of College Traditions on West Lane Avenue, which was vandalized early Sunday morning.
“Traditions is an institution on campus, and their one-of-a-kind Brutus statue has been a staple as you drive down Lane,” said DeMora. “I hope that Ohio State and the police are able to find the losers that did this and bring them to justice.”
According to video surveillance, two males and a female attempted to lift the statue. After failing to be able to lift the statue, one of the males kicked the statue repeatedly, knocking it over. The man then ripped a hat off the statue that was secured with two screws. The owner of College Traditions, Kelly Dawes, stated that one-of-a-kind statue was purchased for $20,000.
The Columbus Police Department is still actively investigating.
