DeMora Condemns Vinton County Gag Order in Siders Family Case
Today, state Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) condemned the gag order issued by a Vinton County judge regarding the ongoing Siders family case. The order restricts the prosecution and the defendants from speaking publicly about the proceedings.
“This gag order only shields the truth from the public about what truly happened to those 16 children! Public officials must be allowed to speak out about this case,” said DeMora. “Along with others, I am demanding full accountability so we can understand where the system failed and ensure this never happens to another child.”
The case involves 16 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 18 years, who were found living in deplorable conditions. All 16 children have since been removed from the home and placed in the care of child services. Four family members currently face charges of child endangerment, and the legal proceedings remain ongoing.
