DeMora Responds to State of the State Address
Today, state Senator Bill DeMora (D-Columbus) issued the following statement in response to Governor Mike DeWine’s State of the State address.
“Today, the governor tried to brag about a litany of issues in his State of the State speech, but there were some things he failed to mention,” said DeMora. “While he continued to attack our state’s higher education institutions by not taking a stand against Senate Bill 1 and failing to fund our higher education institutions adequately, he also failed to mention that his budget cuts funding for public schools by $103 million and raises the amount of money being funneled into private and charter schools. He failed to mention that his budget puts the medical coverage of 700,000 Ohioans at risk, and he failed to mention that his budget has no solutions for the housing and property tax crises that are hurting all Ohioans. Until the governor and his party address these issues, the state of our state will only get worse.”
Following the governor’s State of the State address, Senate and House Democrats held a joint press conference to discuss how they’re fighting for an Ohio that protects, houses, educates, supports, and empowers workers and families.
