Blackshear Announces $7.8M Investment in Montgomery County Projects

Today, state Senator Willis E. Blackshear Jr. (D-Dayton) commended the Ohio Senate’s passage of the state’s capital budget (Senate Bill 450), which includes $6.7 million within Ohio’s 6th Senate District and over $7.8 million for Montgomery County as a whole. 

“I am thrilled to see so many amazing organizations in my district receive critical funding,” said Blackshear. “These projects will uplift our community in key areas, including mental health assistance, public safety, parks and recreation, and cultural activities.”

Overall, the bill appropriates $3.7 billion in capital funding, including $208 million for community projects across the state.

Local projects in the bill include:

  • Gateway Men’s Shelter - $1,000,000
  • Westwood Neighborhood Early Learning and Childcare Center - $600,000
  • Dwight L Barnes Building Revitalization - $550,000
  • West Carrollton Dam Safety Improvements - $502,215
  • Ohio National Road Journey - Exhibit & Building    $500,000 
  • Oakwood and Shafor Park Improvements - $450,000 
  • Washington Township Countryside Park - $400,000 
  • Dayton Medal of Honor Memorial Honor Park - $350,000
  • Uptown Centerville Greenspace Project - $350,000
  • Crash Course Village Public Safety Training Facility - $300,000 
  • Dayton Kitchen Incubator Project (6888 kitchen) - $250,000
  • UD Semiconductor Lab HVAC System - $250,000
  • Saint Vincent de Paul Community Donation Intake Facility - $225,000
  • Boonshoft Museum of Discovery - $200,000
  • Centerville Grant Park Improvements - $150,000
  • West Carrollton First Responder Training Center - $150,000
  • Old North Dayton Park Project - $150,000 
  • Funk Music Hall of Fame & Exhibition Center - $125,000 
  • Dayton Woman's Club improvements - $100,000
  • Miami View Park Accessibility Upgrades - $100,000
  • Miami View Park Improvements - $100,000
  • Jefferson Township Blairwood Park Upgrades - $75,000
  • Miami Valley Meals - $100,000
  • Riverside STEM Talent Development Complex - $100,000
  • Learning Tree Farm Upgrades - $75,000
