Cranking Up the Kilowatts-Ohio Emerges as a Power Player in Energy Production

Baseload power.
That is what keeps the lights on, your house warm, and your favorite show to binge-watch streaming.
I’ve enjoyed watching “Landman” which tells an entertaining and engaging story about the importance of oil and natural gas with a great cast.
Full disclosure, I used to pump an oil well in Washington County. The crude was sold, and the natural gas was used to heat the house, garage, and machine shop.
For me, it really drilled home the point about where our energy comes from.
The Ohio Natural Energy Institute released a report this month highlighting that Ohio is the 10th largest energy producer in the country, the 8th largest producer of electricity, 4th largest in electricity sales and nearly 60% of that power is produced by natural gas.
Shale deposits also deposit more than $12 billion in in royalties to Ohio property owners, resulting in a major win for the eastern part of the state. Since 2010 the state collected more than $537 million in gas severance taxes.
Ohio produced more than 2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas since 2018.
The Energy Institute also pointed out if Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia were a country, it would be the third largest producer of natural gas in the world. Not North America, but the entire world.
Today’s climate change crowd constantly blames fossil fuels for all their imaginary woes. Well, I’m sure it hurts them to know that this country has done more to clean-up the environment than China.
Additionally, Ohio sits on immense reserves of clean, accessible natural gas. Yes, natural gas is clean energy. But...but...what is the byproduct of burning natural gas? Well Professor Woke, it is the same thing produced when we breathe in and breathe out. Carbon dixoide and water vapor. Even the European Union considers natural gas "green energy."
Today it’s too easy to just take for granted, that you flick a switch, and the lights come on. You push the up arrow, and your house gets warmer.
Congressman Troy Balderson joins Senator Al Landis on this week’s President’s Podcast.
Congressman Balderson, is a former chairman of the Energy Committee in the Ohio Senate, and is now a member of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee.
He talks about the importance of Congress’ GRID Act.
Senator Landis, who co-chairs the Senate’s Energy Committee, highlights the importance of Senate Bill 2, Ohio’s 21st Century Energy Policy. Both the GRID Act and Senate Bill 2 focus on meeting America's and Ohio's baseload power demands.
Also, hear what the Congressman from Zanesville and Senator from Dover have to say about the revelations uncovered by the Department of Government Efficiency as to how billions and billions of your tax dollars were being spent.
It’s a podcast that you don’t want to miss.
