Protecting Benefits for Those Who Need it the Most
Fraud dominated the headlines this week.
Both at nationally and locally.
The amount of Medicaid fraud in Minnesota now totals more than $9 billion and is resulting in the first lengthy prison sentences from federal prosecutions.
Here in Ohio, similar questions are being raised after a Daily Wire report using financial data exposed by DOGE at the federal level highlighted highly suspicious transactions involving home health contracts to a cluster of empty office buildings and people with sketchy credentials if not criminal backgrounds.
How does that happen?
Thankfully what DOGE exposed at the national level-the funneling of tax dollars through NGO’s back to the DNC and other candidates and causes related to the Democratic Party-is being brought to light by the Auditor’s Office and quite frankly brave lawmakers like Representative Mike Dovilla, and strong leadership from Senate President Rob McColley and House Speaker Matt Huffman to finally crack the cone of silence from bureaucrats who ignored or slow walked anti-fraud policy changes over the last several years.
Senator Tim Schaffer joins The President’s Podcast this week. He has led the fight to make changes to Medicaid programs for years only to be politically targeted, undermined, and labeled as mean spirited and callous. All for simply trying to protect funding for programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP for the families and children who need it the most.
This week brought a breakthrough.
Join us as Senator Tim Schaffer talks about the unanimous passage of SB 315. The Enhanced Cybersecurity for SNAP Act makes a serious technology upgrade to SNAP cards that cracks down on the risk of theft, their use in criminal organizations and conspiracies ranging from organized crime to human trafficking.
Plus, he talks about a new bill he sponsored that will bring additional accountability to NGO’s that apply for and receive public funds.
