Ranked #1 for Business Nationwide: A Big Week for Ohio's Business and Workforce
President McColley said it best on X, the last time Ohio had a Democrat governor and partial control of the legislature, Ohio ranked #34 in states for business. Now, with a Republican legislature and governor, Ohio skyrocketed to the #1 spot.
CNBC named Ohio the premier state for doing business and said our state is a "magnet for growth, capital and innovation, truly living up to its slogan, 'The Heart of it All.'"
The Senate has accomplished a lot over the years to draw business and development, including a flat income tax.
"Ohio is a great place to live, work, and raise a family," said Senate President Rob McColley. "Our Republican leadership’s commitment to drastically cutting taxes and eliminating regulatory tape over the last decade has made Ohio a place where its businesses and citizens alike know they can grow and thrive. And we’re not done yet!”

An important part of cultivating a strong business state is workforce development. Senator Kyle Koehler (R- Springfield) has been an advocate for growing and developing our workforce in Ohio, which he shared on this episode of the President's Podcast.
He worked with the Emerge Emancipation Program in his district to secure capital budget funds, which we highlight this week for all the great work they're doing. The funds from this year's capital budget will help them expand their campus with housing specifically for young men coming out of foster care, who are statistically more at risk of homelessness.
The Emerge program partners with the Trades Institute and other local businesses to train and develop workers in our trades while the providing mental health services and community needed to shape healthy, competent workers and citizens. Watch our story.
