The State of the State is strong.

Governor Mike DeWine delivered his annual State of the State Address Wednesday from the chamber of the Ohio House of Representatives.

It is a joint session of the legislature (see our day in photos), and Governor DeWine built his speech on a strong foundation of economic development wins for Ohio.

From Anduril’s billion-dollar investment in Pickaway County to build 21st century autonomous military technology, to a new battery factory for electric vehicles at the Honda Plant in Fayette county, to a nearly billion-dollar investment for a production facility by First Quality Tissue in Northwest Ohio, the governor highlighted Ohio’s 81,000 new private sector jobs and growing just this year. The highest in state history.

Governor DeWine announced a new position for Ohio’s newest Lt. Governor, Jim Tressel. Lt. Governor Tressel will lead Ohio’s Workforce Playbook which will focus on providing a qualified workforce for new companies locating across the state. It will be region specific, maximizing the potential of each region of the state.

Site Selection Magazine ranked Ohio first in the nation for new investment, so as U.S. Senator Jon Husted said on last week’s President’s Podcast, “We are the tech hub of the Midwest.”
