She was only a month into the job, and was faced with a major emergency as a tanker train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. This week the Director of the Ohio EPA, Anne Vogel, joins the President’s Podcast to talk about the agency’s immediate response, and continued commitment to the people living there. Former Ohio Senator Michael Rulli, now Congressman Michael Rulli, praised the response of Director Vogel and her team during the Senate’s Select Committee on Rail Safety.

Director Vogel also talks about the mission of localizing the state EPA across Ohio, as well as its work partnering with the agriculture community and Division of Natural Resources to protect our vital groundwater.

The agency is also working with full time and volunteer fire departments across the state to recover the firefighting foam used to extinguish chemical fires. The chemicals in the foam, called PFAS, or forever chemicals, have been found to have carcinogenic properties, and are linked to a long term cancer danger for those serving on the front lines protecting our communities.

Also, if you aren’t on a municipal water and sewer system, you know the cost of having to upgrade or repair a leach field or septic system. The Ohio EPA manages a grant program designed to help homeowners.

Join us for a revealing conversation about the critical mission and partnerships the Ohio EPA provides.
