COLUMBUS—State Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) announced the state has awarded more than $2.6 million to three schools in the 26th district. The funds will help upgrade equipment to teach students the in-demand skills needed to enter our workforce.

"Career technical education offers our next generation the preparation needed for countless careers, giving them the tools for successful futures," Reineke said. "This investment in our students will benefit them and Ohio's workforce and business community for years to come."

Schools awarded funds in the region include:

  • Bucyrus City Schools, Advanced Manufacturing: $696,675.50
  • Elgin Local Schools, Allied Health and Nursing: $951,334.67
  • Tri-Rivers Career Center, Constructions, Advanced Manufacturing & Welding programs: $962,732.00

The funding comes from the second round of the Career Technical Education Equipment grant program, which Senator Reineke supported in H.B. 33, the state's main operating budget. Through both rounds of the grant, 16,875 students will gain access to career technical education at 91 schools throughout Ohio.
