Reineke Issues Statement on Proposed Acquisition of Energy Harbor

COLUMBUS—State Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) issued the following statement on the proposed acquisition of Energy Harbor by Vistra Corp.:

"Earlier this year, Vistra Corp – which already operates power plants in Ohio – announced its plan to acquire Energy Harbor, including both Davis-Besse and Perry nuclear facilities along Lake Erie, which are vital economic engines for the greater Oak Harbor and Perry communities.

These facilities, both located near the 26th Senate District, generate clean, around-the-clock electricity for millions of homes here in Ohio and across the broader region and employ nearly 1,200 Ohioans in high-paying careers.
 
After meeting with Vistra representatives, I am confident that, should this acquisition advance, these plants will continue to provide these vital benefits to Ohio. Therefore, I plan to ask federal regulators to review and advance the proposed acquisition, ensuring the future of these important businesses. 
 
I’m appreciative of Vistra’s proposed investment in Ohio and commitment to this state. I look forward to their continued operations with a fresh perspective, new organizational culture, and a renewed commitment to safety. "
