COLUMBUS—State Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) announced today the passage of Senate Bill 166 by the Ohio Senate, which would prioritize and encourage businesses to hire and train student workers as part of a work-based learning pilot program. "The current pathway for students to pursue a career in a technical vocation is severely under-utilized and difficult to navigate," Reineke said. "We owe our future workforce better pathways for career success, and Senate Bill 166 is a step in the right direction." Senate Bill 166 would establish an Employers Providing Work-Based Learning Pilot Program to incentivize Ohio employers to implement work-based learning programs for high school students interested in career-technical education. The bill also creates the Student Pathways for Career Success grant program, which would expand the state's current career-technical education programming.
