COLUMBUS—State Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) today announced the passage of Senate Bill 337 by the Ohio Senate, which would designate October 4th as “Rutherford B. Hayes Day”.

"President Hayes left an outstanding legacy of public service including creating the concept of career technical education, leading to many of the educational and career opportunities our students have today," Reineke said. "I hope that by designating October 4th as “Rutherford B. Hayes Day,” future generations will be reminded of President Hayes’ influence on our State and Nation."

Before running for President, Hayes served in the United States House of Representatives and served three terms as the Governor of Ohio. President Hayes is also known for his efforts in helping found the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College, which would go on to become The Ohio State University.

Senate Bill 337 will now be sent to the Ohio House of Representatives for consideration.
