Chavez Announces $27 Million Investment in Appalachia
COLUMBUS—State Senator Brian Chavez (R-Marietta) announced the investment of more than $27 million into the 30th Senate District. These funds will boost major projects that will transform Appalachian communities.
"I am grateful to see these funds come to the 30th Senate District and help locals rebuild and develop their communities," said Chavez. "It is crucial that we continue to invest in the Appalachia region for the current and future residents, tourists, and overall prosperity of the area."
The funding comes from the Appalachian Community Grant Program, which is investing $500 million into Ohio's Appalachian region. These funds are coming from the Downtowns and Destinations Initiative to revitalize and enhance historic downtown districts, education and healthcare services, and cultural sites.
Projects receiving these dollars include:

Mount Zion Baptist Church Rehabilitation: $7,043,674
Southeast Ohio History Center Building Upgrades & Repairs: $2,639,453
Village of Chauncey Main Street (Converse Street) Streetscape Revitalization: $1,964,135
Black Horse Inn Underground Railroad Museum Rehabilitation: $3,901,017
Monroe Theatre Restoration/Renovation: $4,607,200
Chesterhill Auction Site Improvements: $977,635
