Chavez Announces Funds for Road Safety and Sign Upgrades
COLUMBUS—State Senator Brian Chavez (R-Marietta) announced the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is awarding over $1.6 million to multiple communities in the 30th Senate District for road safety and signage improvements. In total, $15 million will be disbursed for projects across the state.
"I am thrilled to see funds being allocated to various communities throughout the district to help maintain safety on Ohio's roads," said Chavez. "It is crucial that we make smart investments with Ohioans' tax dollars and I know this funding will make a difference, increase safety, and ease travel."
ODOT's Small City Grant Program awarded the City of Athens (Athens) $1,500,000 to construct a roundabout at the intersection of SR 682 and Armitage/Luhrig Road.
Multiple townships across the district were awarded funds through ODOT's Township Sign Grant Program, which provides dollars for signs, posts, and hardware for signs along township-maintained roads. These townships include:
Richland (Guernsey): $76,226.63
Washington (Harrison): $39,744.40
Columbia (Meigs): $25,921.39
Seneca (Monroe): $35,872.91
Elk (Noble): $9,971.00
Jackson (Noble): $13,034.34
Liberty (Washington): $21,397.10
