Chavez Celebrates Groundbreaking for Women and Children's Hospital in Belpre

COLUMBUS—State Senator Brian Chavez (R-Marietta) attended the groundbreaking for a new women and children's hospital in Belpre with Governor Mike DeWine. 

"This a major milestone in healthcare for women and children in southeast Ohio," said Chavez. “Nearly everyone has or knows someone who has a story on how this facility would have benefited their family. This region deserves the same access and quality of care that other Ohioans have access to.”

The hospital will be located at Memorial Health System's Belpre Medical Campus and will be the only hospital in southeast Ohio for women and children. The facility will provide specialized prenatal services, a NICU, and other specialized OBGYN and pediatric services and is expected to open in the fall of 2026. 

$30 million was provided for this hospital in House Bill 33, the state operating budget. You can learn more about the groundbreaking here.
