Chavez Obtains Funding For Appalachian Veterans And First Responders
COLUMBUS—The Ohio Senate passed the final version of the two-year Operating Budget, including funding for the Veterans and First Responders Appalachian Assistance Program.
"I am very proud to see Ohio provide aid to veterans and first responders across Appalachia," said State Senator Brian Chavez. "This is a significant commitment to a dedicated group who have chosen to serve the greater good. This historic and critically important aid is vital for this region."
The Operating Budget appropriated $500,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $875,000 in fiscal year 2027 to be used to support the Veterans and First Responders Appalachian Assistance Program.
The Director of the Department of Development and the Director of the Department of Veterans Services have been directed to create a set of criteria for the distribution of these funds.
